A Mini Session with Ro at Salisbury Cathedral Close
December mornings in Salisbury can often be a bit dreary, with grey skies and chilly breezes, but when I met Ro for our mini photo session at the Cathedral Close, the atmosphere was anything but dull. The soft, diffused light created by the overcast sky was perfect for capturing those candid moments, and Ro’s radiant smile brought an undeniable warmth to the day.
This shoot had initially been scheduled for earlier in the month, but a storm had swept through, forcing us to postpone. I was relieved that we could finally fit it in before Christmas, and I couldn’t have asked for a better partner to shoot with. Ro was an absolute natural in front of the camera; her confidence and joy transformed the cold winter morning into something truly special.
As we wandered through the stunning Cathedral Close, which is beautiful in every season, we shared plenty of laughs—mostly due to the unpredictable gusts of wind that seemed determined to playfully mess with Ro’s hair. Each time her locks blew into her face, we both burst into laughter, capturing those spontaneous moments that truly reflect her personality. It’s these little interactions that make portrait sessions memorable and enjoyable, turning what could be a stiff experience into a fun and relaxed one.
The backdrop of Salisbury Cathedral, with its historic architecture and serene grounds, provided an ideal setting for our shoot. Even in December, the beauty of the location shines through, with its lush greenery contrasting beautifully against the stonework. Each frame captured not just Ro’s stunning smile, but also the enchanting spirit of the Cathedral Close.
Reflecting on the session, I’m reminded of how much I enjoy working in this location. There’s something magical about the Cathedral Close that seems to enhance every portrait, no matter the season. Whether it’s the vibrant greens of spring, the warm hues of autumn, or even the stark beauty of winter, each year brings new opportunities for creativity and exploration.
As we wrapped up our session, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the chance to work with someone as delightful as Ro. Her enthusiasm and positivity made the cold, grey day feel warm and inviting. I left with my heart full and my memory card bursting with beautiful captures, and I can’t wait to return to Salisbury Cathedral Close for more portrait shoots in the future.
If you’re looking for a stunning location for your next photo session, I highly recommend the Cathedral Close in Salisbury. Its beauty transcends the seasons, and the memories created here are sure to last a lifetime. Thank you, Ro, for being such a wonderful subject and for sharing so many laughs with me! Here’s to more joyful shoots in this beautiful spot!
